NEW IN THE COLLECTION – ERWIN WURM „GURKERL“ (GHERKIN)

Wurm has famously stated that cucumbers, like humans, are entirely unique. While millions of different cucumbers exist and no two are exactly alike, they are all instantly recognizable as belonging to the same category. He uses this to symbolize individual identity within the broader human collective, Also, to Wurm, the cucumber acts as a bizarre, non-standard shape that humorously defies the rigid, geometric structures of traditional, classical sculpture. We are thrilled to now have at least a small version of Wurm’s iconic „Gurkerl“ (Gherkin), actually for this series made of porcelain, in our collection.
