NEW IN THE COLLECTION – YUKO FUKOBA JOHNSSON

HKForward has become an annual show highlight in Hong Kong by 10 Chancery Lane Gallery. 2024 marked the 13th edition of this show that every year celebrates selected young artists, mainly from Hong Kong. It is inspiring to see and feel the energy of this next generation of artists and I am delighted we could acquire a particularly interesting installation from Japanese artist Yuko Fukoba Johnsson. She just received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and the Hong Kong Art School, and has focused her work on ceramics which she calls a „memory container“. Her technique for this work was particularly intriguing: She collects rocks from special places, which then transform with the clay around once fired. I am optimistic we will see more from Yuko Fukoba’s artist journey…
